Warm wishes on the new year,
At the outset, we wish to convey you the sense of gratitude from all the people, to whom your support has brought new hope. There are ample challenges, but so are the opportunities. Here is a brief account of the work i-Saksham has done through your support.
With your due support, i-Saksham raised INR 5 lakh in the month of June. Now, it has expanded to 50 tutors. Training and monitoring is core to delivering education in these areas. We are now a team of 5 members, with three full time trainers on board. We purchased 50 tablets and accessories, three laptops worth approximately INR 3 lakh, and spent INR 1 lakh on various admin overheads.
Following have been the key highlights of this quarter operations and achievements:
1. i-Saksham started digital literacy training to more than 100 youths from very poor families under the govt. sponsored program, National Digital Literacy Mission
2. i-Saksham partnered with READ India, and building community tutorship skills of 10 adolescent girls at Deo Block of Aurangabad District, Bihar.
3. i-Saksham carried out a brief post assessment exercise at 10 community learning centres
* It was pleasant to see that children who submitted blank baseline test paper, could now write basic alphabets, and read numbers.
* There have been steady progress on weak curricular indicators identified during the baseline test.
Kanchan's story:
Kanchan Kumari is a 12th pass, 31 year old female from village-Bhawanipur of Deo Block, Aurangabad Dsitrict Bihar. Within couple of weeks of training, she went to her village and started a learning centre with 30 poor kids.
Please listen to her sharing her experiences how a small android tablet with digital content is changing her life. She expresses she now has more learning opportunity and feels humbled to contribute towards betterment of education of poor children.
Wish the coming year brings great health, happiness and opportunities to give life better meanings; to you and your near dear ones.
