 “क्या मेरी अपनी कोई पहचान नहीं?”

यह सवाल खुशबू दी के मन में अक्सर गूंजता था। प्रह्लादपुर की रहने वाली, उनकी शादी बहुत कम उम्र में हो गई थी। किस्मत से ससुराल अच्छा मिला, लेकिन वह 14 सदस्यों का एक बड़ा परिवार था। दिन भर घर की जिम्मेदारियों को निभाते-निभाते, उनकी अपनी पहचान कहीं खो गई थी। लोग उन्हें केवल "किसी की पत्नी" और "किसी की बहू" के रूप में जानते थे। 

पढ़ाई की इच्छा दिल में हमेशा ज़िंदा रही। बड़ी मेहनत से उन्होंने घर संभालते हुए स्नातक (B.A.) की डिग्री भी हासिल की, लेकिन डिग्री के बाद भी ज़िंदगी वापस उसी ढर्रे पर लौट आई—रसोई, बच्चे और घर का काम।

इस सवाल का जवाब और ज़िंदगी में एक नया मोड़ उन्हें शादी के 13 साल बाद मिला, जब वह i-सक्षम फेलोशिप से जुड़ीं। यह मौका उनके लिए एक नई शुरुआत जैसा था। यहाँ ट्रेनिंग, दोस्तों जैसे माहौल और रोचक गतिविधियों ने उनकी खोई हुई खुशियों को लौटा दिया।

धीरे-धीरे, उनके नेतृत्व ने एक नई शक्ल लेनी शुरू की। उन्हें विद्यालय और समुदाय में बच्चों को पढ़ाने का अवसर मिला। शुरुआत में यह सिर्फ एक काम लगा, लेकिन जब बच्चों की आँखों में उनकी पहचान चमकने लगी और वे मुस्कुराते हुए “खुशबू मैम” कहकर बुलाने लगे - एक नई पहचान मिली।

आज गाँव के लोग भी उन्हें सम्मान से “मैडम” कहकर पुकारते हैं। समुदाय में उन पर इतना विश्वास है कि लोग कहते हैं—“अगर मैडम ने कहा है, तो यह ज़रूर होगा।” यह सिर्फ एक सम्मान नहीं, बल्कि उनके नेतृत्व की सबसे बड़ी उपलब्धि है।

खुशबू दी मानती हैं कि यह फेलोशिप खत्म होने के बाद भी, वह अपने समुदाय के बच्चों को पढ़ाकर हमेशा “मैडम” कहलाती रहेंगी। अब उनकी पहचान किसी रिश्ते तक सीमित नहीं है। वह आज एक शिक्षिका हैं, एक लीडर हैं और कई लोगों के लिए एक प्रेरणा हैं।

लक्ष्य: खुशबू भविष्य में एक नौकरी करके आत्मनिर्भर बनना चाहती हैं और अपनी पहचान को और मज़बूत करना चाहती हैं।

"माँ बोली — अब हमारी बेटी हमारे से आगे जाएगी"

आज की मदर्स मीटिंग (Mother meeting) कुछ अलग ही रही। कुल 10 किशोरियों की माएँ आई थीं — हर चेहरे पर अपनापन, कुछ झिझक, लेकिन दिल में बहुत कुछ कहने की चाह।

जैसे ही मीटिंग शुरू हुई, मैंने सबसे पहले हाथ जोड़कर सबका स्वागत किया। बोली — "आप सबका आना हमारे लिए बहुत कीमती है।" फिर धीरे-धीरे बातों का सिलसिला शुरू हुआ। हमने पूछा  "आपको क्या करना अच्छा लगता है?" किसी ने कहा – "खाना बनाना", कोई बोली – "सिलाई", तो किसी को बच्चों को पढ़ाने में मज़ा आता है। उस पल मुझे महसूस हुआ, हर माँ के पास एक हुनर है, बस उसे पहचानने और अपनाने की ज़रूरत है।

बात जब उनके सपनों तक पहुँची, तो माहौल थोड़ा भावुक हो गया। कई माओं की आंखों में अधूरे सपनों की चमक थी। एक माँ बोली, “मैं डॉक्टर बनना चाहती थी, लेकिन पंद्रह साल में शादी हो गई।” दूसरी बोली, “मुझे टीचर बनना था, पर घर वालों ने पढ़ने ही नहीं दिया।”
लेकिन इस अधूरेपन के बीच एक नई उम्मीद भी दिखी — उन्होंने कहा, “अब हम नहीं चाहते कि हमारी बेटियाँ जल्दी शादी करें। हम उन्हें पढ़ाएंगे, आगे बढ़ाएँगे।”

फिर हमने किशोरी कार्यक्रम और लाइफ स्किल्स के बारे में बताया — कि कैसे अब लड़कियाँ खुद के लिए फैसले लेना सीख रही हैं, और दस लोगों के बीच अपनी बात रखने की हिम्मत जुटा रही हैं। माओं को ये सब जानकर बहुत अच्छा लगा। एक माँ तो मुस्कुरा कर बोली, “अब लगता है कि हमारी बेटी हमारे से भी आगे जाएगी।”

मीटिंग के बीच मैंने अपना परिचय भी दिया। बताया कि मैं “i-सक्षम" से जुड़कर बदली — जो लड़की कभी अकेले घर से बाहर नहीं निकलती थी, वही अब मीटिंग ले रही है, सबके सामने खड़ी होकर बात कर रही है। ये मेरे लिए छोटा नहीं, बहुत बड़ा बदलाव है।

दो वर्षों का सीखने और बदलने का सफर: मौसम की प्रेरणादायक कहानी

मुझे बहुत कुछ सिखाया और मेरे जीवन में गहरे बदलाव लाए।  तीन मुख्य बदलाव मेरे जीवन में आए हैं, जिन्हें मैं आपसे साझा करना चाहती हूँ।

व्यक्तिगत विकास: सबसे पहला बदलाव यह है कि अब मैं अपने लक्ष्यों को निर्धारित कर पाती हूँ और उन्हें प्राप्त करने के लिए मेहनत करती हूँ। पहले मैं अपने गोल बनाने और उन्हें पाने के बारे में नहीं सोच पाती थी। यह आत्मविश्वास और लक्ष्य निर्धारण की कला मैंने i-सक्षम के माध्यम से सीखी।

समुदाय में संवाद कौशल: पहले मैं अपने समुदाय के सामने अपनी बात नहीं रख पाती थी। लेकिन जब मैंने समुदाय में काम करना शुरू किया, तो मैं लोगों से जुड़ाव बनाने लगी और अपनी राय खुलकर व्यक्त करने लगी। अब मैं बिना झिझक अपनी बातें सामने रखती हूँ और दूसरों के विचारों को भी महत्व देती हूँ।

विद्यालय में शिक्षण क्षमता: विद्यालय में बच्चों को पढ़ाने के दौरान मैंने कई नई बातें सीखी हैं। अब मैं एक्टिविटी आधारित शिक्षण करती हूँ, जिससे बच्चे न केवल सीखते हैं बल्कि कक्षा में आनंद भी महसूस करते हैं। मैंने सेशन प्लानिंग करना सीखा है, जिसके अनुसार मैं बच्चों को पढ़ाती हूँ। इससे बच्चे कक्षा में कभी बोर नहीं होते।

PTM का नया अनुभव: पहले बच्चों में PTM (Parents-Teacher Meeting) को लेकर डर रहता था। बच्चे अपने माता-पिता को बुलाने से कतराते थे क्योंकि उन्हें शिकायत की आशंका रहती थी। लेकिन मैंने बच्चों और अभिभावकों के साथ संवाद करके यह डर दूर किया। अब बच्चे बिना किसी डर के अपने माता-पिता को PTM के लिए बुलाते हैं। PTM में शिकायत करने के बजाय हम माता-पिता को यह समझाते हैं कि अपने बच्चों को बेहतर तरीके से कैसे प्रोत्साहित करें।

i-सक्षम की सीख:- i-सक्षम में जो भी नियम और प्रक्रियाएँ हैं, उन्होंने मुझे जीवन के महत्वपूर्ण सबक सिखाए हैं। मंथली बॉडी टॉक के दौरान हम अपनी परेशानियाँ साझा करते हैं और बॉडी हमें उन चुनौतियों से निपटने के लिए प्रेरित करती है। इस प्रक्रिया से मुझे अपनी कमजोरियों और खूबियों का पता चला।

मंथ में होने वाले सेशन्स ने मुझे यह सिखाया कि हिंसा के खिलाफ आवाज उठाना और अपनी पहचान बनाना कितना महत्वपूर्ण है। इसके अलावा क्लस्टर मीटिंग्स के माध्यम से हमने एक-दूसरे से विचार साझा किए और कम्युनिटी में आने वाली चुनौतियों का समाधान पाया।

मेरा बदलाव और सफलता की यात्रा: खुशबू की कहानी

i-सक्षम से जुड़ने बाद मुझेमें बहुत बदलाव आया है। शुरुआत में मुझे बहुत चुनौतिया आई क्योंकि मै एक बहु हूँ और मेरे घर से निकलना भी नहीं होता था। लेकिन अब मैं समुदाय के हर वर्ग के अभिभावक से मिल रही हूँ और उनसे जुड़ पा रही हूँ। पहले बहुत डर लगता था कि लोग क्या बोलेंगे और अभिभवाक कैसी प्रतिक्रिया देंगे। लेकिन अब यह डर नहीं रहता क्योंकि मुझे लगता है की हर प्रतिक्रिया से कुछ सिखने को मिलेगा।

स्कूल में भी जब हेडमास्टर सर से बात करनी होती थी, तब डर लगता था। सोचती थी कि सर क्या कह देंगे और मैं क्या जवाब दूँगी। लेकिन अब यह डर खत्म हो गया है और मैं बेझिझक सर से बात कर पाती हूँ। अपने परिवार में भी अब मैं अपनी बात रख पाती हूँ। पहले जमुई जाना होता था तो बिना किसी घर के सदस्य के नहीं जा सकती थी। लेकिन अब अकेले जमुई जाना और लौट आना मेरे लिए सामान्य हो गया है, भले घर वाले सहमत न हों।

सेशन में भी अब अपनी बात रखने का आत्मविश्वास आ गया है। पहले डरती थी कि कहीं कुछ गलत न बोल दूँ, लेकिन अब यह सोचती हूँ कि गलती से भी कुछ नया सीखने को मिलेगा। अब मेरी पहचान मेरे पति के नाम से नहीं, बल्कि मेरी अपनी मेहनत से है। यह मेरे लिए गर्व की बात है।

मेरे काम के कारण समुदाय में मुझे साफ-सफाई के लिए सम्मान मिला। जब हमारे गाँव में 65वां पंचायत समारोह हुआ, तो मुझे वहाँ सम्मानित किया गया। यह मेरे जीवन का गर्वपूर्ण क्षण था।
मैं आई-सक्षम का धन्यवाद करती हूँ जिसने मुझे यह मौका दिया और मेरे जीवन में यह बदलाव लाया।

शिक्षा से बदली दो लड़कियों की जिवन

एक छोटे से गांव (विकोपुर) की रहने वाली रिंकी, कठिन परिस्थितियों में भी अपनी उम्मीद और जज़्बे को बनाए रखने का उदाहरण हैं। रिंकी का जन्म एक निम्न वर्गीय परिवार में हुआ। वे तीन बहनों और दो भाइयों में सबसे छोटी थीं। रिंकी का बचपन सामान्य बच्चों की तरह शुरू हुआ, लेकिन पांचवीं कक्षा के बाद उनकी जिंदगी ने एक कठिन मोड़ लिया।

उनके चाचा की बेटी की शादी होने वाली थी, और उसी समय उनके चाचा ने सुझाव दिया कि रिंकी की भी शादी कर दी जाए। इस विचार ने रिंकी को झकझोर दिया। वह अपनी पढ़ाई जारी रखना चाहती थीं और अपनी माँ के भाई (मामा) से मदद की विनती माँगी, बोली मामा मुझे अभी पढ़ाई करना है। मामा ने रिंकी की पढ़ाई के लिए रिंकी की घर में बातचीत किये लेकिन घर वाले नहीं माने तो, रिंकी के मामा खुद पे जिम्मेदारी उठाए और बोले मै रिंकी को अपने घर ले गए। इस तरह रिंकी की छठी कक्षा में नामांकन कराया और पढ़ाई जारी रखी।

रिंकी नौवीं कक्षा तक अपनी नानी के घर में पढ़ती रहीं। लेकिन उनके पिता की तबीयत खराब हो गई, जिससे उन्हें घर लौटना पड़ा। कुछ समय के लिए उनकी पढ़ाई रुक गई। परिवार की आर्थिक तंगी और कठिन हालातों के बावजूद, रिंकी ने हार नहीं मानी। दोबारा नानी के घर जाकर पढ़ाई शुरू की और 2020 में मैट्रिक परीक्षा पास कर ली।

इसके बाद, रिंकी की पढ़ाई आगे नहीं बढ़ सकी क्योंकि उनके पिता की तबीयत लगातार खराब रहती थी। परिवार की जिम्मेदारी उनके कंधों पर आ गई। अपनी छोटी बहन को पढ़ाई का मौका देने के लिए उन्होंने नानी के घर भेज दिया। रिंकी का गांव काफी दुर्गम क्षेत्र में है,जहां से स्कूल जाने के लिए 15 किलोमीटर पैदल चलना पड़ता है। ऐसे कठिन हालात में भी, रिंकी ने खुद को शिक्षा के प्रति समर्पित रखा।

कुछ दिन बाद 

रिंकी 2023 में i-सक्षम फेलोशिप बैच-10 कार्यक्रम से जुड़ी , उन्होंने अपने गांव में शिक्षा का अलख जगाने का बीड़ा उठाया है। रिंकी अपने समुदाय में भी काम किये हैं। कुछ दिन पहले रिंकी के गाँव में लडकियों की शादी नहीं हो पा रही थी क्योंकी लडकियों को नाम और अपना परिचय नहीं लिखने आता था। रिंकी अपने समुदाय में वैसे लडकियों को चुने जिन्हें अपना और अपना परिचय नहीं लिखने आता था। उसके बाद रिंकी उन लडकियों के साथ काम किये। वे 10 लड़कियों को अपना नाम और परिचय लिखना सिखा चुकी हैं। इन लड़कियों में से दो की शादी भी ठीक हो गई, क्योंकि वे अब खुद का परिचय लिखने में सक्षम थीं। 

रिंकी का संघर्ष यहीं खत्म नहीं होता। अपने पिता की देखभाल, परिवार की जिम्मेदारियों और खेतों में काम करने के बावजूद, वे स्कूल जाती हैं और दूसरों को पढ़ाई के लिए प्रेरित करती हैं। वे उन लड़कियों के लिए एक प्रेरणा बन गई हैं, जो शिक्षा की रोशनी से अब तक दूर थीं।

रिंकी की कहानी हमें सिखाती है कि यदि हमारे अंदर कुछ कर दिखाने का जज्बा हो, तो कोई भी कठिनाई हमें आगे बढ़ने से नहीं रोक सकती।

"Know Yourself, Change the World" - the golden words Anshu Kumari embraced from a session on "Identity" !

 

Anshu's story is about her strong determination and leadership in a rural village in Begusarai, Bihar. Despite facing challenges and traditional expectations, she showed great courage in creating her own path. Anshu is the only girl in her village who completed her graduation before marriage, choosing to pursue higher education despite financial difficulties. Her dreams go beyond the usual roles assigned to women in her community. In her recent reflection sharing, she shared about her village, education levels, aspirations of girls and women and her own ambitions. Through her note, one ca understand how- despite negative comments and pressure from villagers who believed she should marry early and focus on household duties, Anshu remained firm in breaking free from gender stereotypes. She didn't want to end up like her mother, who had an education but ended up working in the fields. Instead, she aimed to be recognized and set an example for other girls.

In 2023, Anshu joined the i-Saksham edu-leaders fellowship programme in Begusarai, which opened up new possibilities for her. Here she learned and gained a fresh understanding of her surroundings.

During a session on "Identity," Anshu's thoughts deeply impacted her fellow participants. She came to realize the importance of understanding one's own likes, dislikes, voice, and choices to set clear goals and remain true to oneself. 

Anshu shared, "It became a way of life for all the edu-leaders to appreciate differences and stay true to ourselves."

"पहचान" सत्र में हमारे अनुभव ने हमें हमारी पसंद और नापसंद को समझने में मदद की। हमारी आवाज़ और चुनौती को भी समझने का मौका मिला। हमारे लिए यह जानना महत्वपूर्ण था क्योंकि हमारी पसंदों को समझकर हम स्पष्ट लक्ष्य तय कर सकते हैं। हमारी पसंद दूसरों से अलग हो सकती हैं, और अगर हम समूह के दबाव में आकर अन्यायी काम करते हैं, तो हमारी असली पहचान को नुकसान हो सकता है, जिससे हमारे सफलता में कमी आ सकती है और हमारी आवाज़ और चुनौती का संक्षिप्त होना सकता है।"

[Our experience from the session yesterday on Identity was about understanding our likes and dislikes, including our voice and choice. It was essential for us to know more about ourselves because without knowing our preferences, we cannot set clear goals. Our likes might differ from others, and if we succumb to peer pressure, we may do things that don't align with our true selves, leading to a lack of success and a loss of our voice and choice] writes Anshu in her deep reflection note.

In her village, Anshu recognized the need to challenge harmful beliefs and practices that limit girls' opportunities, such as child marriage and menstrual taboos. Her vision of equality and empowerment resonated deeply with the fellowship, and they pledged to dismantle such customs and foster an inclusive society.

Anshu's leadership traits stand out through her strong determination, dedication to making a difference, and the positive influence she has had in her community in a short time. Her journey from a protected life at home to becoming a source of hope for other girls highlights the power of education and self-awareness to bring about meaningful change.

In the words of Anshu herself, "I aim to challenge harmful practices and beliefs, proving that girls are no less than boys in any aspect and to be the one people give an example of how a girl should be like - audacious, kind and ambitious despite all barriers."

While she was initially disregarded as a naive village girl by teachers and elders there, to be even being placed in the school to assist in teaching as part of her fellowship, she persisted and applied her fellowship learning in the classrooms. Her dedication and passion for education transformed the attitudes of her critics, who now respect her work in the school and community.

Anshu knows how fortunate she is to have her family's backing in her journey of learning, exploring, and growing as a person. Unlike many of her friends, her family doesn't rush to marry her off. Anshu strongly believes that proving the importance of education, freedom, and family support to the community and society around her is so crucial. This belief fuels her determination to make a positive impact and inspire other families with daughters to stand against societal pressures. She wants to influence parental mindsets and create a significant change in the lives of countless girls who face early school dropouts due to early marriages, and other societal expectations from girls. Her reflection reminds us that real leaders emerge when they bravely challenge the status quo and work towards a better future.

Discovering New Horizons: Nandini's Inspiring Journey of Confidence, Self-Belief, and Courage!

    Nandini Singh, an alumna of the i-Saksham edu-leaders' fellowship, has embarked on an inspiring journey that she eagerly shares with us today. Her story begins in 2020, during the challenging times of the pandemic when she joined i-Saksham Edu-leaders’ fellowship’s 5th cohort. It was a significant step for Nandini as she decided to step out of her comfort zone and take the leap beyond the threshold of her familiar surroundings.

  

 At the outset, Nandini faced apprehension and uncertainty as she vividly remembers the initial trepidation (fear) she felt when she returned home in the evening after her first day with i-Saksham. The support from her family was not immediate, but she discovered an inner strength and belief in herself and her abilities. With each passing day, Nandini's dedication and hard work began to shine, gradually garnering the recognition and support of her family.

    Throughout her journey in the Edu-leader fellowship, Nandini dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her work, leaving no stone unturned to ensure its excellence. Her relentless efforts paid off, and she soon played a significant role as a peer mentor within i-Saksham. She approaches her responsibilities with dedication daily and strives to do and learn better each time. 

    Nandini received a job offer from the Aditya Birla Academy, an organization that recruits trainers to facilitate training for government teachers. Initially, she didn't fully grasp the significance of the opportunity, as i-Saksham had presented her with several offers in the past. However, a sense of unease crept in during the selection process, casting doubt on her decision. The idea of leaving her district and her seven-year-old child, and seeking permission from her family seemed like formidable challenges to overcome, she gathered the courage to embark on this new opportunity. 

    Summoning her courage, Nandini took the leap toward her aspirations. Despite her initial fears, she quickly realized the latent power within her. The professors and lecturers she encountered at Aditya Birla Academy were unaware of her relatively short experience in the field. Nandini's dedication, supported by i-Saksham's confidence-building initiatives, allowed her to showcase her true potential. Her commitment and skill in the role made others assume she had been in this line of work for a decade or more.

"Within me lies a tremendous power that I discovered after joining this program (training the teachers). The teachers, professors, and lecturers who come to our program have no idea that I have been working for two years post-fellowship. They assume that I have been doing this work for the past 10 or 12 years. They don't realize that I lack that many years of experience. But with the support and confidence given by i-Saksham, I have shown my true potential. What more could describe better about the transformation of my personality that has been polished by i-Saksham's support?", shares Nandini.

Today, Nandini is brimming with happiness and pride. After touring the campus and meeting Dr. Vandana, her husband shares her joy and admiration.

While Nandini humbly mentioned that her name appeared in Dainik Bhaskar (newspaper), her husband revealed his unspoken pride in her accomplishments. 

Nandini attributes her success to the unwavering guidance and support of i-Saksham, acknowledging the pivotal role the organization played in her journey. Nandini's achievements carry immense significance as an alumna of the i-Saksham edu-leaders' fellowship. Her accomplishments represent her personal growth and success and the breaking of stereotypes and barriers marginalized girls and women face. Through her determination and support from i-Saksham, Nandini has opened doors and created opportunities that pave the way for others who face similar challenges.

Claiming Identity: Empowering Girls through Self-Agency to Inspire Change and Challenge Gender Stereotypes

   

    One of the sessions that take place during the i-Saksham Fellowship for Community Change leaders ' Capacity Building in Leadership is about self-agency. The objective of this session is to create awareness about agency and empower individuals to take control of their lives and make positive changes.

In one such session, the girls shared their personal stories of change and empowerment, highlighting the importance of self-agency. Here is how the session in general rolls!

    To kickstart the session, a picture of Amal Hussein, a girl affected by war and malnutrition, was shared, which sparked a discussion about values, thoughts, and actions. The girls were encouraged to think deeply about the impact of their choices and actions and how they could use their agency to create positive change in their lives and communities. The session also incorporated Kamla Bhasin's writings to encourage critical thinking and reflection.

    Kamla Bhasin's stories and poems provided an opportunity for the girls to explore their beliefs and values and to challenge traditional gender roles and stereotypes. During the session, Rakhi shared her experience of advocating for boys and girls to study together in her school, while Rozi shared how she encouraged girls to play with boys during playtime. Nikita shared how she was the only girl in her village who goes out and does all the work, which highlighted the importance of breaking gender stereotypes and challenging traditional roles.

 During the session, the girls actively participate in heartfelt exchanges, revealing their profound awareness of how traditional gender roles confine and restrict them, leaving them helpless and reliant. Their testimonials, wherein they acknowledge these limitations and strive to challenge them, serve as a powerful source of empowerment. The session centers on instilling the importance of self-agency, critical thinking, and reflection, equipping the girls with the necessary tools to effect positive transformations in their lives and communities.

"I am Bulbul Kumari, Batch-7 Edu-leader. I wanted to share my journey of education and empowerment. I got married in 2003, the same year I completed my 12th grade. My marriage took place in a family and society where education was lacking. No one in my family understood the importance of education when I expressed my desire to study. As a result, my studies were interrupted, and the family situation was not favorable. So, I suppressed my aspirations and became involved in household responsibilities, cutting off my connection with education. The desire to learn within me faded, but I still had a passion for teaching, so I started teaching the children around me.

In 2006, I got an opportunity to teach in a private school where I worked for a year. During that year, my mother passed away, which caused me immense sorrow. I left everything behind and isolated myself at home, disconnecting from the outside world.

In 2011, I had the chance to study in a residential school located in the mountains (Santhal region). However, the school only operated for 11 months before closing down. I found myself in the same situation as before, with no significant changes. Then one day, I received a call from a teacher at the school where I initially started teaching, suggesting that if I wasn't engaged in anything else, I should come and teach at their school. In 2017, I resumed teaching and continued for three years.

A significant change occurred in my life when everything seemed to come to a standstill. In 2020, Sanjay Bhaiya and Dharamveer Sir visited my house, and I joined i-Saksham. That was the most transformative moment of my life! After a few months, I noticed a change within myself. Teaching the children has always brought me happiness and contentment, something I had been doing for many years. However, I realized that my teaching methods were not correct. As I received intensive training during my fellowship, my self-confidence started to grow.

One day, during a session, I learned about IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University), and a voice from within me said that I could start studying again. But I was afraid. It had been 18  long years since I left my studies, and I didn't know how I would resume my education. However, my husband encouraged me to study and pursue my certification. Along with him, my sister-in-law (elder to my husband) became my friend and provided great support. I would also like to express my gratitude to i-Saksham for becoming a platform that allowed me to restart my studies after almost 18 years. Currently, I am doing my graduation and I am enrolled in the second year of my Bachelor's degree."

i-Saksham Edu-leader Fellowship for the community change leaders like Bulbul Kumari is active in five districts of Bihar. The fellows undergo two years of transformative journey that builds their skills in three tracks - Personal, Educational, and Community Leadership. The program's three-pronged approach is well-rounded and comprehensive. Firstly, it focuses on enhancing the personal leadership capabilities of the selected fellows, which will not only empower them individually but also enable them to inspire others and lead effectively. This emphasis on personal growth and development is crucial for building strong leaders. Bulbul Kumari is an edu-leader from the 7th Cohort and they are going to graduate soon from the fellowship. Bulbul and other change leaders from the 7th and 8th cohort are fully equipped to create change in their communities and beyond.
